Term Time Absence

The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 did allow headteachers to grant leave of absence for the purpose of a family holiday during term time in “special circumstances”.

Amendments to the 2006 regulations, which have come into force from September 2013, make clear that head-teachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Should you wish to request a term time absence, which you believe to be an exceptional cirumstance, please email Mrs Caroline Castle (Principal's PA) on caroline.castle@wyeschool.org.uk

Any holiday which is taken and not been approved will be coded as an unauthorised absence for your child.  We are obliged to pass these to the local authority who have the power to impose a fine (penalty notice) Penalty Notices carry a fine of £60 per parent per child if paid within 21 days increasing to £120 per parent per child if paid between 22-28 days.
